Long ago, in a small Indiana town, two baby girls were born. Identical twins as a matter of fact. As the youngsters developed, interesting behavior became apparent.

Jean used the glowing behinds of fireflies to create elaborate face paint. Jane, on the other hand, spent hours counting Raisinettes, biting them in half and trading the smaller version for real-size M&M's Everyone who knew them said, "Jean's a right brain and Jane's a left! Together they're a perfect fit!"

Having just finished modeling in a series of Calgon TV commercials, the Ford twins had a desire for something new. In 1976, they opened their first makeup boutique, The Face Place. Their passion for makeup mixed with originality and a wacky sense of humor turned The Face Place into an instant candy store for the face and launched original products such as benetint, lip plump and ooh la lift.

Who could resist such tempting products without giggling and gossiping for more?In 1990, The Face Place was renamed Benefit. With five San Francisco Bay Area boutiques, the word began to spread. Benefit opened cosmetics counters at Henri Bendel, New York and Harrods and Selfridges, London, just to name a few. Currently, with close to 600 counters worldwide, an enthusiastic catalog, lively boutiques and a dynamic internet presence, Benefit continues to create products that are irresistible, fun and uniquely problem solving.

Women from 15 to 55 have come to rely on Benefit for fresh solutions to consistent problems that plague every generation. Products like boo boo zap, the super strength blemish blaster, and dr. feelgood, the ultimate skin mattifier, have quickly become every woman's best friend. Plus, gals love to laugh over names like "touch me then try to leave". cream and an eye shadow called, my date's my brother. You can always expect the unexpected from Benefit.
